Dickies American Hero of the Year

What does it mean to be an American hero?

You tell us! Complete the information below and nominate a hero in your life who's made an impact. We want to hear why your nominee is an American Hero! All United States military personnel, retired or active duty, along with their families are eligable (for complete eligibility requirements, see complete contest rules).

Heroes come in all forms. Your hero might be currently deployed. They could be supporting active duty personnel at home. Your hero could be keeping the family together. Your hero could be retired. Tell us why they've inspired you, and why they deserve to be our Dickies American Hero of the Year.

Nominations can be Video, Photo and Essay, or Essay submissions. Entry period is from May 1st, 2013 to June 17th, 2013. Five (5) Finalists' Entries will be selected between June 18, 2013 and July 1, 2013. The Finalists' Entries will be displayed on the Contest Websites between July 5, 2013 at 12:00AM CT and August 6, 2013 at 11:59PM CT. Public voting will determine the Grand Prize Winner from the finalists' entries.

Entries will be judged on the following three criteria: Entry Composition (40%), Entry Sincerity (40%), and How well the Nominee represents the American Hero (20%).

Prizes

$25,000 Grand Prize

One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded. The grand prize winner will receive Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000)

$1,000 Runner-Up Prizes

Four (4) finalist prizes will be awarded. Each finalist prize winner will recieve One Thousand Dollars ($1,000)
